Snoopy comes home...

Yup... we brought Snoopy home yesterday. He's 8 weeks old so he's still pretty small. He walked some of the way home, but mostly Mrs. 40 carried him.

It must have been a long exciting day for him, cause he was pretty tired.. couldn't keep his eyes open once he laid down.

He's already taken about 15 walks outside so far.. trying to get him used to going to bathroom outside. Before lunch we went for a walk down the dirt road so he could meet the other neighbors on the road and check out the horses. When we got back he was wiped out... right now he's sleeping on my lap while i'm typing this.
In other news, i'm hoping to add more contributors and commenters to the blog. Invites should be going out today.. if you don't get one and want to contribute or comment drop me a line and I'll send you one.

Also, It's 'fertilizer' season around the Beermuda triangle. What that means is all the farmers are manuring their fields. It's pretty stinky here today.

Back to studying... -40

Five Boro Ride May 6th

Hey,
A bunch of us will be heading down to NYC for the 30th annual Five Boro Ride. If you've ever wanted to ride in the City without cars and with 30,000 of your friends... this is the ride for you. Its 42 miles of riding around NYC... a rolling party.

I need to figure out what bike i'm going to ride... with so many people a single speed might not do it... maybe the geared road bike.. or I might break down and slap some gears on the Karate Monkey.

Hmmm Dunno. I'd consider the bfb (loaded with a cooler and a grill) but we need to take the train in from GUDG's mom's house in New Haven.

Register by April 6th and save some $. I'm sending in my form tomorrow.

Happy St Patty's Day

It started as having a few people over for some corned beef, and happily grew and grew to a full blown party.

BBW, Sleepy aka the Blue Monk, GUDG, the CLTPs, and the FlatTires all headed over last night. Of course on friday we had snow, then inches of rain on top, and the driveway is all muddy underneath anyway, so I couldn't plow. I told everyone to dress appropriately since we were still planning on playing outside... at least for part of the night.

GUDG took this advice seriously...he wore his full-on field crew rainsuit.

CTLP came wearing his latest Gold Medal. He's special.

Of course some of the coolest toys are these light up LED discs.. check out gold medalist CTLP:

We all had ideas to how to light up the goal, we couldn't decide so we used all methods: glow sticks, led flashlights, and tiki torches(no need to worry about misquitos!)

It didn't take long to start a fire in the back... wet wood does burn when you use gasoline and the leaf blower. We still hadn't gotten rid of the xmas tree, so we did last night:
After a couple more car-b*mbs, it was time to make icy snow angels...
At some point we all started fading fast.. next thing i remember it was morning and time for the Sleepys famous omlets. Three Eggs, Three Meats, Three Cheeses... Yum!
After breakfast we farted around until noon, then invited ourselves over to the CTLPs ranch for more disc golf. They have a kick@ss yard for that.

Of course Maggie joined in. After a few holes she deserved a beer-slushy(beer on snow...).
She loves it!
This time of year you need to watch out for the water traps... here's BBW fishing his disc out of the koi-pond:
It was a great weekend... lots of fun! After that, we all headed out... CTLPs, GUDGs, and Sleepy headed north for a hockey game, Mrs 40 and I headed back to the neighbors to visit with Snoopy.

Here he is napping with his brothers.

Have a good week! Cya -40.

WoooooF!!!

So, last weekend when I was working at the lake, our neighbor stopped Mrs 40 while passing out on the dirt road to tell her that their doghter had a litter of puppies. She invited Mrs 40 back to meet them ...she ended up spending two hours chit- chatting and checking out puppies. Their Doghter had four boys, two already had homes in the neighborhood.

Of course, as soon as Mrs 40 saw them she went all smooshy. Monday night we headed back there to visit and so I could meet the pups for myself.

Well, I thought they were pretty cool too, while one was temporarily named U(for the U stripe on his back) I secretly started calling him Snoopy in my head.

(psssstt.. Snoopy should be coming home in a few weeks.)

WooooooF!

In case there's any doubt it's been cold

Today it got up to 50F...that's pretty warm for this time of year.

The Florida Family might want to stay there a couple more months though, or at least until the ice breaks up on the lake.

I took a trip down the beach today to drop off my mom's kayak, and to rake the neighbor's yard at the lakehouse. In case there's any doubt how cold it got the past few weeks, check out the lake:

Even the salt pond froze over in late winter. The ice over there has already started breaking up... We'll be able to go fishing in no time!

You no no never do that...

Let this be a warning.

DON'T leave the keys to your tractor lying around where your drunken hick friends can find them. Seriously. Especially if you want to wake up expecting that $h!t will not be moved around in your yard... I can't believe that people get paid for excavating and the like when I have such a blast digging holes and filling others in for no apparent reason.

I suppose this post is really aimed at one person. Flat Tires, I'm looking in your direction...

Heh- Did anyone order the London Symphony Orchestra? Possibly while... Cypress Hill, I'm looking in your direction... Tee-hee...

Okay- this is an easy one- first person to name the episode and season wins. Bonus points for the best alternative quote from that one. Hard to judge, though- there are so many fantastic ones to choose from!

Where FiddleSticks Used To Be

If you didn't grow up in or around Rhode Island, you won't get the joke.

That is this: Most folks around here are physically incapable of giving directions to anywhere without referencing at least one landmark that's no longer there.

One in particular favorite landmark is the old grocery store chain: Almacs. (Yes, I remember where at least three Almacs Used To Be, and yes, I still occasionally use the phrase "Turn by where Almacs used to be".... )

Anyhow... Tonight's the Big Night, a Stop and Shop is opening "Where Fiddlesticks Used To Be".

In honor of the momentous occasion of yet another RI landmark being bulldozed for development (don't forget the Tent among others...) I'm starting a new blog... this one won't be updated very often, just when old sh*t gets bulldozed for new sh*t.

The new blog is:
Where Almacs Used To Be

And yes, I'm sure as hell going to the new grocery store tonight with Mrs 40, beats driving another 4-5 miles to wickford to $hop at Daves Market. I'll take pictures.

1st Annual YABADABADOO!!! (part 2)

After our 4am-ish return from the Crotch, we slept in somewhat late on Sunday. When we finally motivated enough to leave Sleepy's, we had a narrow window of opportuntity to get down to Manch-Vegas's legendary diner Chez Vachon. Back alley's are cool.

There Sleepy and GUDG introduced us all to a local delicacy Poutine ('puts-in')... which is french fries, heavy canadian cheddar cheese, spicy chicken gravy, and we got the optional bacon on it too. OMG.. this is freaking wonderful... Check it out:

After breakfast we packed the iBucket with discs and headed out to play some disc golf. We learned that using white discs in the snow is a bad idea.

So it throwing it up on the roof... Here's GUDG being the hero of the day getting a disc down off the roof. It was Freakin' Sweet.

After disc golf we had to scramble to get back to Providence to see Keller Williams at Lupos.. sorry.. no pix of that tho.

Anyhow... it was a great weekend.

I think the next big weekends we have coming up is the Big-River Cleanup, and the Arcadia Trail Days... make sure you come out/down/over to help clean up those areas.

1st Annual YABADABADOO!!! (part 1)

This weekend was Sleepy G's first annual YABADABADOO! I think we all agree, this is due to become the late winter -ADAB we all need. Thanks Sleepy for pulling this all together!

(Wait a minute... should we consider this the second annual YABADABADOO. Last year's trip to Snoe.Down was a good YABADABADOO too ... just a thought..)

Anyhow.... this has been a weird time of year for me with work being f'ing nutty and trying to find time to study. I couldn't join the early weekend crowd for Friday night's hockey game in Manch-Vegas (Casa De Sleepy G was an excellent base of operation for this year's YABADABADOO!)

However, I've gathered from all sources that there was more than acceptable levels of mass consumption of adult beverage and minimum consumption of food. So much of the former that Saturday became the rest day, with not a whole lot of hot action unless you count Sleepy and CTLP on the drums (btw...this is the cure-all for hangovers...)

When SickoJerk and I arrived, we played some N64...classic MarioCart and 007!

After dinner of the now famous IPC(c), quesadillas(show your class and say "Kay Sa Dill As" when you order these at a restaurant), and beer, we headed up to Crotched Mountain for Midnight Madness snowboarding! Crotch Mountain puts on a Midnight Madness snowboarding event from 9pm to 3am for 30 bucks.. sweet deal, and minimum crowds. It was the right kind of crowd too for us Pandapas' folk.

It was a little chilly, but we figured out all we needed was a parking lot beer-break to make it through the night.

It was a great night.. not a ton of people, no lift lines, decent enough snow, not too cold and whatnot.

...To be continued
